As a successor to the West Pakistan Board of Technical Education Lahore,
the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Technical & Commerce Education (KP BT&CE) was established
in March 1973 under the North West Frontier Province Board of Technical Education
ACT 1972. The Board has revised this Act on 8th February, 2021. Now it is called Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of
Techncial & Commerce Education Act, 2021.
The functions entrusted to the Board are to organize, regulate and supervise Technical, Commercial and Vocational Education below degree level, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As such, the Board of Technical & Commerce Education is an academic and examining body for polytechnic, commercial, vocational and other private technical institutions including computer training institutes of under-graduate level.
Major responsibilites

Hold and conduct all final examinations pertaining to Technical, vocational, industrial, information technology and commerce education below degree level and such other examinations as may be determined by the Board;

Prescribe of adopt course of study for its examinations;

Lay down conditions for recognition and affiliation of institutions;

Grant certificates and diplomas to persons who have passed its examinations or who have been assessed to be competent under the Competency Based Assessment;

Award scholarships, medals and prizes in accordance with the rules and regulations;
